Jimmy Buffett born on December 25, 1946, in Pascagoula, Mississippi is a singer, songwirter, author, businessman, and recently a film producer best known for his "island escapism" lifestyle and music including hits such as "Margaritaville" and "Come Monday."
Aside from his career in music, Jimmy is also a best-selling writer and is involved in two restaurant chains named after some of his best known songs, "Cheeseburger in Paradise" and "Margaritaville." |
Jimmy began his musical career in Nashville, Tennessee during the late 1960s as a country artist and recorded his first album, the folk rock Down to Earth, in 1970. In 2003, he partnered in a partial duet with Alan Jackson for the song "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere," a number one hit on the country charts.
Jimmy's album, License to Chill, released in 2004, sold 238,600 copies in its first week of release. With this, Jimmy topped the U.S. pop albums chart for the first time in his three-decade career. |

Jimmy became the first musician to stage a concert at Wrigley Field in Chicago in September of 2005. In August 2006, he released the album Take The Weather With You. On the album he pays tribute to Merle Haggard with his rendition of "Silver Wings" and collaborates with Mark Knopfler in the track, "Whoop De Doo.
"The song "Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On" on this album refers to 2005's Hurricane Katrina.

After Katrina Jimmy wrote this unique song... Breathe In, Breathe Out,
Move On. Here are the lyrics....
I bought a cheap watch from the crazy man
Floating down Canal
It doesnt use numbers or moving hands
It always just says "now"
Now you may be thinking that I was had
But this watch is never wrong
And if I had trouble the warranty said:
Breathe in, breathe out, move on
According to my watch, the time is now
The past is dead and gone
Don't try to shake it, just nod your head
Breathe in, breathe out, move on
Dont try to explain it, just bow your head
Breathe in, Breathe Out, Move on.... |
